“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 KJV IN LOVING MEMORY David “Bubba” Loyd Smothers January 9, 1985 - October 7, 2025 David “Bubba” Loyd Smothers, age 40, of Attalla, AL, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. There will be a private ceremony for Bubba, on October 25th. Visitation will be from 10AM to 12PM with service starting at 12PM. Bubba was the one to call if you needed someone there and someone you knew you could rely on. He loved movie nights with his wife and kids, and loved being around his family. He loved fast cars and big trucks. He mostly loved working on them, especially with his daughter Lydia and his cousin Tyler. He loved playing video games with his son, Dawson; daughters, Angela, Britni, and Austynn. Bubba loved having random dances in the living room with his wife and kids. He also loved date nights with his wife no matter the time of day. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Smothers, of 21 years; son, Dawson Smothers; daughters, Angela, Lydia, Britni, and Austynn Smothers; sisters, Misty Smothers (Patrick), Mande Smothers Battles, and Monica (Joey) Bohannon; parents Tammy and David Smothers; along with a host nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Second mom, Teresa Chapman; chosen children, Aaliyah “Leah” Keener, Addison “Addy” Stiles, Keithan Gramling, and Justin Clayton; chosen brothers, Willie Presley and Tyrell Boley; chosen nephew, Tyler Hopkins. Bubba was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Loyd and Margaret Smothers, Gaynell and L.C. White, and Joyce and James Fitts; aunts, Shirley Smothers, Pat Gartman, and Linda Hopkins; uncles, Jimmy Hopkins, James Fitts Jr., Jesse “Peanut” Poole, Lamar Smothers, Steve Ramsey Sr.; cousins, Doug Hopkins, Judy Smothers, Chad Smothers; mother-in-law, Anna Reynolds; niece, Chloe Battles and nephew, Joshua “Turtle” Collins.
