Thomas Lee Towns

Thomas Lee Towns, age 80, of Boaz, Alabama and native of Oneonta, Alabama, passed away on January 18, 2025 at Grandview Medical Center. Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Hilan Towns; son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Kristy Towns; granddaughters Whitley (Josh) Waldrop, Emma (Dylan) Bolding, and Lily (Heath) Lisenbee; great-grandchildren Shiloh, Sully, and Scout Waldrop, and Bennett Bolding; sisters Teresa Buck and Cheryl McIntyre; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Mary Beth Towns; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tommy, as he was known to many, served as a real estate broker in Marshall County for over 50 years. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, particularly his beloved granddaughters. He took immense pride in their athletic achievements, famously rewarding them with quarters for every point scored in basketball. His and Hilan's home was a weekend haven for their grandchildren throughout their childhood years. A passionate Auburn fan, Tommy never missed a game and would enthusiastically greet anyone wearing Auburn attire with a big "War Eagle!" An avid outdoorsman in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In every season of life, you could count on him to keep his grass cut and could always catch Pawpaw Tommy on his John Deere. Tommy was a truly a Good Samaritan who would help anyone in need, even if it meant risking his own safety. He would stop on the side of the road at the drop of a hat to see if someone needed help. Tommy knew Jesus as his personal Savior, and his family takes comfort in knowing that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). His family rests in the blessed assurance of reuniting with him when they meet Jesus face to face. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Etowah Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time. Bro. Mike Goforth will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Waldrop, Dylan Bolding, Heath Lisenbee, Mark Maddox, Mitch Foster, Mike Clackley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Alexander, Jerry Wayne Hallmark, Ricky Maddox, Randy Underwood, Wesley Vaughn, Jim Holland. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Sardis Baptist Church for blessing in a backpack. Arrangements are entrusted to Etowah Memorial Chapel.
