Wanda Jean Eaton

Wanda Jean Eaton, affectionately known as "Da," went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 2nd, 2024 at the age of 75. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Wanda was deeply rooted in her faith and known for her selfless nature. Born to John and Estelle Kennedy in Sardis, AL, Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings Bill Kennedy, Lonnie Davis, Glenda McCormick, Jake Kennedy, and Gertrude Kennedy. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Eaton, and her children, Kim (Kevin) Wordlaw and Bobby (Jennifer) Eaton. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren Colby (Noelle) Nicholson, Spencer (Erin) Nicholson, Kennedy (Darby) Nicholson, Chandler (Hannah) Eaton, and Baileigh Grace Eaton (Noel Rodriguez), as well as her great-grandchildren Brooks, Nolan, Thomas, Jay, Luca, and Edith. Wanda is also survived by her siblings Effie Uselton, Bertha Morrow, Grady Kennedy, Evelyn Boone, and Mary Lou McGatha as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Wanda spent her professional career as a beautician where her love and care for her clients made them all more like family. She attended First Baptist Church of Boaz where she was an active member in the church and the choir until caring for her husband no longer allowed her to attend. “Da’s” life was a testament to her unwavering faith and devotion to God and her family. She never missed a ball game, choir performance, or graduation. Her smile was infectious, and her back scratches could make grandkids and great grandkids fall asleep in minutes. Da was always making extra pans of her famous dressing at the holidays for her family and was sure to not let you leave her house hungry. Her absence on earth has left a hole in the hearts of her loved ones that will never be filled, but the promise that she is no longer in pain and is dancing with her lord and savior in Heaven gives us hope that we will see her again one day. Visitation will be held from 1:30pm – 3:00pm on Thursday September 5, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Boaz, AL. A celebration of life service will follow where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons and son-in law. Honorary pallbearers are great grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Bell Center for Early Intervention (https://thebellcenter.org/donate-now/) in Wanda’s honor.
