Marcus Earl Wynn

October 20, 1932 - January 16, 2022

On Sunday morning Jan. 16, (Marcus) Earl Wynn lifted the veil and left his earthly home. Earl was the youngest boy of 11 siblings. He dropped out of high school shortly before graduation because he did not own a suit jacket, he subsequently earned two masters degrees. Earl and Bernice’s home was always warm, cozy, and full of love and books. He served this country as a career Air Force veteran in far flung assignments from Thailand to England to Minot, North Dakota, Germany and Tripoli. He retired again as an Appeal Referee from the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. He taught his children to question everything, think hard and play fair. Earl was a story teller, an excellent writer, fisherman, hunter, gardener, history buff, lifelong Democrat, civil rights advocate, and Christ follower. To the last he loved and adored Bernice, his wife of 72 years, and was a loving father and grandfather. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Whitesboro Cemetery. Rev. Alan Hallmark and Kara Stephens will officiate. The pallbearers will be his grandsons. There will be no visitation. He is survived by his wife; Doris Bernice Wynn, children; Gayla Wynn, Richard Earl Wynn (Donna) and Wanda Wynn Price, a grandson raised and loved as their own; Carl Cole III, grandchildren; Kara Stephens, Leia Price Currie, Katy Beth Price, John Marcus Price, Patti Jo Mega, Gayla Dianne Wynn, Amy Michelle Barbee, and Ricki Denise Coleman, 25 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Alf and Willie Wynn, son-in-law; John W. Price, and 10 brothers and sisters.
