James David Bohannon

Mr. James David Bohannon, age 66, of Attalla, born January 21, 1958 and passed away January 5, 2025 surrounded by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 at The Church of Love in Attalla, AL, visitation, starting at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends to come honor James and The Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Sister Teresa Chapman will officiate. Two of James greatest friends; Josh Redden and Tommy Griffith will also speak in honor of James. Please come help us celebrate one of the greatest men we have ever known. James was a simple man. He is preceded in death by his parents; Orville Bohannon and Eloise Rodchester, his grandparents; Charlsey Mae Stone and Will Dick Stone, brother; Timmy Bohannon, Pastor and great friend; Rev Harold Ray Chapman and his great friend Berley Wayne Hill. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years; Martha Bohannon, sons; Jamie Bohannon (Tina), Joey Bohannon (Monica), Jason Bohannon (Jessica), grandkids; Alyshia Bohannon Davis (James), Marka Richards, Tyler Smothers (Sony), Jesslynn Watson, Blay Keleigh, Kayanna, Brayson Bohannon, Kaylee Bohannon (Tyler Meadows), and Zach Bohannon. Great-grandkids; Brooke (Michael Christensen) Lexie, Hunter Richards, Koltn Smothers (Rayanne), Memphis, Logan Smothers, great-great-grandkids; Lincoln, Eliza Christensen and Tucker Smothers, brothers; Randy Bohannon, Danny Bohannon (Ginger), numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a hard worker. He worked at Norfolk Southern 2 years. He worked 20 years for Siberton Fence and he retired from The City of Attalla with 25 years of dedicated service. He was an avid Drag Racer for 10 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his boys. He loved hunting, fishing and cutting grass for anyone who needed it. James leaves behind many special friends; Tammy and David Smothers, Teddy Vineyard, Chuckie Hill, Randle Woods, Chris Jones, Donnie Winningham, Kenny Lacount, Quincey Patterson, Timmy Chapman, Gene Proctor, John Wetzle, Tim Shelton and Donnie Redden. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to James and his family. Special thanks to his nurses; Valerie, Ashley and Lindy and his aide Daphne. They all came to be a big part of our family and we are forever grateful for the compassion and love. A special thanks to Jessie, Estrella and Shaelynn McNeal for being such great caregivers to James. Arrangements have been entrusted Etowah Memorial Chapel .
