Jerry “Jai” Abercrombie III 45 of Attalla passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at his residence At this time no services and planned Jai is survived by his Wife: Kristine Baker, Parents: Jerry Abercrombie Jr. (Calin), Denise Dixon (John), Brothers: Jacob Abercrombie (Nicole), Keith Engelhardt, Charlie Finch (Amelia), Kevin Keller, Paul Krugman. My husband was a kind caring loving soul who would give the shirt off his back if he thought it would help somebody. Before he got sick with liver problems, he always tried to live life to the fullest and he never took it too seriously... Unless it came to work... And when he worked, he was very detailed oriented. He was a very smart and honest and good man. Not only was he an honest to God good person, but what made this man even more great was the fact that he was a veteran. He served from 99 to 2005 in the 82nd (crusaders) he was the mechanic who would instead of working on engines would work on the computer aspect of it. He made f-16s get off of the ground so that his fellow troops could fight alongside him for our country. My husband was a patriot, a hero. He was my rock. The military wasn't always good to him though... To be honest with you from our understanding with all of the medical tests that have been run and the fact that he wasn't much of a drinker except for way back then, it's the military's fault as to why he started to have liver problems because one day when he was working on f-16s one of the pilots that had just come in for a landing shut off the engine too soon and dumped hydrazine on him not once but on two separate occasions... But of course, with it being the military I'm sure we all know somebody who has at some point then hurt in some way shape or form and they brushed it under the rug... That was the case with my husband and this is why I'm telling his story. I want change for our veterans. If at the very least I would like to raise awareness about our veterans and about how they need more help than what they're getting... I don't want to see this happen to another family if I can help it. The signs were there knowing what we know now but ignorance truly is bliss. When we were dating and engaged to be married this man and I would go out on all kinds of dates several times a month we would both dress up all nice and neither go see a movie and have dinner or just get out of the house and go on vacation at least once a year any chance we got This man gave me the world and he would do it for anybody who was a good person. When I say he would give the shirt off his back if he thought it would help you, I really mean that Not only did he serve his country and was a good man in general, he also gained a career later on in life once we moved to California and started working for the military as a computer engineer. My husband was the real life MacGyver. With his job, he was able to save lives.... He was a hero Jai was a person of many interests. He loved Star Wars, legos, drawing, photography, nature, gaming and music. At a young age his love for music led him to the guitar which he continued to play throughout his life. Early in life Jai was a devoted friend, always looking out for others and treating everyone close as family. Behind his tough, rough persona he was a gentle giant who cared for and would do anything for anyone that needed help. Jai found a sense of purpose in the military, joining the airforce after high school. The military gave him opportunities that he did not have otherwise. He found a second family in the Air Combat Command as part of the 523 fighter squadron (crusaders). Etowah Memorial Chapel Directing
