Norman David Hatch

Norman David Hatch, a proud veteran of the Navy, passed away on Sunday June 2nd 2024, from complications with pneumonia at the age of 89 in Stillwater, Minnesota. The son of Charles and Myrtle Hatch, Norman grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was born on February, 8th 1935. He lived on the family’s farm. He loved to tell many stories to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren about his days on the farm. At the age of 18, Norman enlisted in the Navy. He valued this service highly and was a proud Navy man. He proudly served for 20 years, and served another 10 years as a civil servant. He traveled the world and told many stories of his adventures to anyone who would listen. He proudly wore his veteran hats and shirts until the day he passed. Norman is survived by his daughters Peggie Martel, Theresa (Terry) Cook, Sons Tony (Gertrude) Hatch, Chuck (Vickie) Hatch, Rory (Jane) Hatch, Timothy (Lisa) Hatch, Raymond (Tammy) Hatch. He had many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for always being there for anyone that needed him. He could do almost anything from fixing cars, plumbing, and electrical work to building anything like his log splitter that he loved to tell anyone about. He also made beautiful items in the wood shop. Norman was always willing to share his talents. Even though Norman was stricken with dementia, he was still willing to try to help until he was physically unable. Norman is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Hatch, of 51 loving years. They made Boaz, Alabama their home for 25 years. They had a very special, once in a lifetime love. Also his mother Myrtle, father Charles and his two sons lost too young in life, Lawrence and James Hatch, also his brothers and sister. After Nancy passed, Norman bonded with his granddaughter Tiffany, over the love of the farm life. He loved living with her and seeing all the farm animals everyday. Every morning brought new excitement and joy at breakfast for Norman sitting at the breakfast table. He would look at the animals and the birds outside as if it was all something new. This all brought a piece of his childhood back to him, and with it came the stories of his childhood. It was a special time that will be missed. A graveside service honoring the life of Norman Hatch will be held on Friday, June 7th at 11am at Sardis Baptist Church in Sardis City, Alabama.
